This project is the winner of the 3rd prize in the design competition for the new ISTAT (The Italian National Institute of Statistics) headquarter based in Rome.
The building is composed by two elements: the two-floored “basement”, containing the public areas, and the seven-floored organic volume containing the office areas.
The upper volume is architecturally highlighted by a stratification given by inhabited terraces, leaving an empty space crossed by suspended connecting walkways in the centre.
All of these aspects generate a complex organic figure juxtaposed to the rigid shape of the basement.
